My periods can be agonising, very long (1 week) and very painful. I start with diarrhoea for 2 days, so I stay at home and miss work / lectures. Very bad lower back pain, a lot of the times I cry. Usually I feel like my feet are heavy and extra painful. I get very irritable.

I used to be on the injection but it didn't work for me at all - I started having periods daily for a month. I'm on the implant now and well - I haven't been pregnant so far but it increase my periods to 12 days.

I know some people's periods go away completely, can anyone tell me which method of contraception they use, especially if they don't get periods or if they get less.

  1. go back to your GYN

  2. Yaz is awesome.  Its a low hormone pill and your period is only supposed to last 3-4 days, and if you have bad periods it eases up the symptoms

  3. See a doctor they'll help! :)

  4. My cousin had the EXACT same problems that you do. She had the pain, and all the agaony. Not fun :( Well, she evenutally started taking the Birth Control "Yaz" And you only get your period 3 days out of a month. It helped her right away and she stopped having pain, and her peiods became very light and painless!

    Hope this helps!

  5. What you REALLY need is a chiropractor. Seriously.

  6. I'm on the Mirena IUC.  I got mine inserted July of 2007. At first, periods lasted for a long time, about 2 weeks at a time, BUT they were very light.

and after about 6 months, my periods stopped altogether.  I still have PMS, but its not bad, lasts only a day or two then I'm okay again.

I wish you luck finding a method that works for you.

  7. Progesterone only pills (mini pill) can actually stop periods or make them less frequent.  I've been on noriday for about 6 months and havn't had any bleeding at all.  The combined pill doesn't stop them unless you take packs back to back but makes periods a lot lighter and regular.

  8. IUD

  9. Take Yaz or some other birth control pill all the way through.

  10. Have less than 16% less body fat or have your uterus removed.

The pill only shortens your period but it's takes a lot of the pain away.

  11. you can surgically get your hysterectomy tooken out or birth control!
