  1. First thing is to listen to their reasons. Why don't they want you to go to school? You said you don't know, which means you need to find out why. Say it back to them, in different words ideally, so that they know you've really heard them. Write it down. Then sleep on it.

Once you've got the reasons, think about them. How are they good? How are they not quite enough to keep you homeschooling?

Think of your reasons for wanting to go to public school--is it really public school you want or is it some other issue that you think public school will be a solution for? What about homeschooling stinks? There could be many different solutions to your problem and public school is likely only one solution. Identify what your problems are and then talk to your parents about them. Do NOT beg and plead to go to school. It usually doesn't work. If it works, shame on your parents for giving into childish begging. The focus should be on solving your problems, and if you are mature about it, they will be open to a wider variety of solutions than if you're not. At the same time, if you are focused on solving your problems rather than just going to school, another solution may come up that will satisfy your desires while still satisfying your parents' desires.

So, remember: listen to why they want you to homeschool, figure out what problem you have with homeschooling, present your problems to your parents with the intention of getting help from them to solve your problems and be OPEN to other possibilities.

  2. Honestly, not only tell them that you want to go and you'll be responsible but show them. do your chores, work hard, and possibly do what i do and put on a little powerpoint showing why you should be able to go to school. I was once homeschooled and it really isn't very fun. Just be responsible, don't bug them like crazy, and calmly give your reasons for why you want to go to public school.

  3. I agree with what hsmom...above said.  Most parents that homeschool believe that they are giving their child the best education possible given the circumstance.  Is it that your parents believe that the public schools in the area aren't educationally appropriate for you?  Does the school not meet their expectations?  Are you being homeschooled solely for religious reasons?  Medical reasons?  The list of reasons your parents have chosen to homeschool could go on and on.  Ask them what their reasons are.

Come to think about it...I bet my kids don't know exactly why we homeschool.  I guess we better have that discussion.

  4. try asking them why they do not want to enroll you. once you get their answer go back do some research and form a solid argument

  5. Junior high and high schools allow part time attendance. I home taught my three children and transitioned all of them in middle school part-time for a semester. The next semester they choose to attend more or all classes on campus - each child was different. One hated the public junior high so we found a private school for the next school year. All attended high school full time and fit in well. Your parents need to read your posting and answers to have a honest discussion with you!

  6. Well, why don't you ask them why they don't want you to go?

If you want to convince them, first you need to know what their objections are.  If you don't know what they are, how can you overcome them?

Second, you need to hear them out.  They are your parents, and they have reasons for the decisions they make.  You may not like or agree with those decisions, but at the end of the day, it is your parents' job to make them.

Third, why do you want to go to school?  What do you think the benefits will be?  Are you just curious about what school is like, or are there opportunities there that you can't access now?  Be honest with your parents.  It doesn't sound like you've talked with them, or if you have, like you've given them any other reason than "I wanna go".

Talk with them.  Find out what their reasons are, and share yours with them.  There honestly may be things about your local schools that you're not aware of (hence their decision), but at the same time, they probably aren't aware of your reasons.  This is something that you need to be honest and open with them about.  You can't manipulate them or "make" them do it, but you can show responsibility by being up-front about it.

    Hope that helps!

  7. i fell sorry for you

  8. Okay. Treat this like an assigment. Find out exactly what the differences are between home schooling and public schooling. Then write an essay explaining why you want to go to public school, and present it to your parents. Just saying 'I wanna' isn't going to convince them of anything, you'll have to find good reasons. Socialization is one, and an important one, but there are others are well - some of the clubs in school, for example, give you experience that you don't get through homeschooling. Cheerleading? Sport teams? how about the school newspaper and annual? debates? what goes on at the public school that you want to be part of?

  9. ****** ask them 2 let you go then but u wont wanna stay there long

  10. I used to be home schooled and now I'm at school...

For me wanting to go to school was a stupid decision to make, if I could leave school and be home schooled again I would do it!

School takes up so much time and space, it's busy, it's boring, and there's the added downside of homework, 'due dates', bullies, annoying teachers, no free time, having to getup every morning...

but that could just be me...

  11. i feel really sorry for you :(
