  1. sorry i have a conflicting obligation. that's what you say. oh and you do not have to explain even if asked for an explanation. that's bad etiquette on their part for needing one.

  2. If it is your friend that friend would understand your reasons. Just talk to your friend and explain, you shouldn't have to lie about not showing up.

  3. you say you cant make it.  you dont have to give any explanations. its your business.

  4. DONT GO.

*i never go to parties or any other events no matter how important/fun they are..

  5. So don't go. Call and say you can't make it.

  6. If your reasons are more important than hurting your friend's feelings, stay home

  7. oh God i JUST had this happen to me last week! Just do what I did:

My friend was turning 22 on a tuesday and she just kept begging and begging me to come to her house and get drunk with her and spend the night.

I kept telling her NO that I have a full time job and that I do not want to miss work (trying to get hired on permanent, just a temp now) and she just KEPT ON.

I finally just said "Listen, I am really tired. I need to go home, take care of my husband and my dog and get some rest. If you want to party we will have to do it on a weekend!" and she shut up.

She is probably mad but i dont care.

  8. Do they have lots of other people going? Did you already say you were going? IF its a small gathering, or if its your best friend, you should really go even if you don't want to. But if there's enough people you really won't be missed go ahead and blow it off.
