i think every bit of matter is and always was. while humans are expanding in number...animals are decreasing. if the amount of water on the earth is the same frozen or not....humans are just dust from the earth and we'll return to it. so, i dont think there was some tiny particle and then it grew huge and never ending. argue?

  1. You can believe what you want, but the fact is that the universe is expanding, and the big bang is the best explanation for that.

It's a direct, observational fact that the universe is expanding.  If you choose to believe it's not, that is your choice, but it's no better than someone who doesn't believe the moon exists.

  2. Being ignorant does make you 'special', but not in a good way.  Just because you don't understand the big ban theory or know what an expanding universe is doesn't mean you should go shunning the idea.

We can look out at other galaxies, hundreds of thousands of them, and detect their relative motions towards earth.  They are all, except for the very close ones, moving away from us in a proportional way, meaning the farther they are away from us the faster they are moving.  This is pretty solid evidence of an expanding universe!!

  3. Hmm.  Well, you might try reading "The Big Bang Never Happened", by Eric Lerner, a reasonably well argued, layman science type of book.  You might then counter it by reading the "First Three Minutes", by Steven Weinburg, or "The Big Bang", by Simon Singh.  See who has the more compelling argument!

However, it is worth pointing out that, at the current time, the Big Bang theory fits most neatly with the observations we make. This is the same science that makes your car go or your lightbulb go on - or allows you to ask questions via computers to the entire world!  Science is never exactly "right", no theory can ever be completely proved, only disproved.  But a huge amount of time and effort and money goes into any scientific thesis - no one just pulls them from their bottom and gets published, save for possibly online -  and  the ones that fit with what we see or touch or measure we call "fact", at least until a new observation comes along. As a last note: I know the earth and its occupants - people, animals, water - seem big and important!  but they are just the smallest drop in the tiniest bubble of the universe.  The earth and the big bang aren't linked, save in the most ultimate way.

  4. so.. beleive what you want to believe and we will beleive what we want to believe... if its not effecting your quality of life.. so be it... dont worry about it..

(although I choose to believe in the theory and expanding universe)

  5. You have some interesting ideas. You might want to look into these things, and find out a little more about them.

  6. That's because you're a r****d!
