im going to be a junior this year, and i have such bad grades.. ive been kinda of depressed latley so ive lost all focus on school and cant really pay attention, i know this year is crucial so i really have to step up my game.. the grades i got last year were

C in honors math

B- in honors english

D in honors bio

C in honors social studies

C in honors math again

B- in honors spanish

WOW !!!!!! i just realized how awful my grades are, oh my god.. it was so stressful because i was forced into all honors, and im just not that type of student.. what should i do this year? im not taking as many honors. do you think if i get all A's andB's ill have any chance at college? i dont do any sports, but im probably going to do ALOT of volunteering, and i might be studying abroad so that might help../

is there any hope for me?

  1. You should get your act together now, while there is still time.  If you can get your overall GPA up to a B average, you should have a good shot at getting into a good college.  It might not be harvard, but you could get into some good state schools.

  2. Stop taking the honors classes if you can't do well in them. An A or B in a regular level class looks better then a D in an honors class.

  3. Well, first you should think about why you want to go to college.  College classes are usually more demanding than any high school honors or AP class, so if you don't like the challenge, college might not be for you.

But if you do want to go, your overall GPA and test scores will be the biggest factor in determining if you get in or not.  You might want to ease your way in by starting at a community college.  It's cheaper, more flexible time-wise, sometimes easier, and they take just about everyone who got a high school degree or GED.  Spend a few years there.  If you do well, you can get into a good school that wouldn't consider you now.  If not, you didn't spend a lot of money and time finding out college wasn't for you.
