ok so my dads the type that he always tries to spend "quality" time with me cuz im his oldest son. But i dont enjoy spending time with him because i dont like his personality and we dont get along. Were not really close at all, and i feel so uncomfortable alone with him because he tries to talk to me and i dont know what to say.

And also, he has a terrible personality. hes very bossy and doesnt get along with many people. I always get punished more than my other siblings, they never get grounded for anything, but he grounds me BIG TIME for the stupidest things. Hes very lazy and selfish and he'll send me to do stuff which my mom tells him to do and when i refuse he gets mad and we fight. Hes also one of those people that likes to bother people to get a reaction, and he does that with me all the time. Every time i get so mad after a while that i snap and he grounds me.

I really dont want to get close to him, and talking to him doesnt work because he never takes what i say seriously, and hes very hard-headed and he'll make me feel guilty.

is this normal for guys?

btw im a teenager and i get along great with my mom =]

  1. My father & brother never got along together at all well, ever. It happens like that in families - personalities clash and that is that. Try to keep a low profile with him. That way you will keep out of trouble. Wait until you are a little older then you will be able to exercise your own will and do your own thing more. It is hard I know, but sometimes parents can be so difficult without even trying. Thank goodness we can choose our friends! Good luck and best wishes. UK

  2. is normal for guys, I never got alonged with my dad and I am 17.. but I ignore him most of the times. And sometimes I just sit with him and try to talk about what I think he is doing wrong and what he thinks I am doing wrong.... so try something it might help both of you!
