  1. Liberation.   The moral code is just part of the outworking.    (Why the silly 'H' by the way?)

  2. Everlasting Life

  3. Life and eternal life.

  4. faith, freedom, morals, ethics, salvation, an entire attitude change, happiness, comfort, community, and so many other things.

  5. Christianity is the only religion in which God is approachable.

It is also the only religion in which you don't have to be perfect.

Christianity offers peace and psychological security not found in other religions which are essentially a list of rules.by which followers are to find their way to heaven on their own.

Ultimately Christianity offers a psychological and moral assurance not to be found in other faiths.

Once people understand and accept God's grace, they are more able and willing to extend grace to others.  So, when properly practiced, it also offers an awareness of your place in the world, and your responsibility to others.  There is a reason that Christian nations tend to build hospitals and schools when they colonize.

  6. It makes people believe they will live forever, and that their less-conforming siblings will be damned.

    So it's a two-fer, egotistically speaking...

  7. Much. Eternal life and joy in the journey.

    Here's the PLAN http://www.creationontheweb.com/content/...

  8. I don't know... But sometimes it doesn't even seem to have a positive moral code.

  9. What's there to get?

It offers a negative moral code.  It's all about sacrificing yourself or others for a nihilist ideal.

  10. Hope as an anchor of the soul.

Love that is vertical and horizontal.

  11. As with all religions there is a certain amount of 'social scene' involved. People meet new friends and do activities together. I think this is a good thing as some people don't have any family.

There are loads of other pluses too!

  12. Christianity is WAYYY more than a positive moral code.. its about helping others out..having someone to turn to when you feel alone and rejected by the world....knowing that someone is there to guard you when you are in trouble.. a relationship with and the happy felling.. eternal life(there is much more to our life on earth, it doesnt end when we die!!)..having a reward for every good deed you did.. BELIEF!! its hard to find but once you do there is nothing like it !!

  13. Eternal life.  This in turn makes you want more from this life.

  14. If you don't like using your brain too much, it's a great deal easier to sing the praises of the lord than it is to read a little about science.

It means no more questions, just faith - you never need to think again, ever.

  15. Why don't you try reading some introductory theology. In particular I wonder if

    1)  'Basic Christianity' by John Stott

    2)  'The Empty Cross of Jesus' by Michael Green

    3)  'The Cross of Christ' by John Stott

are books which might be useful. The last one is quite intense and scholarly. Why not try the Alpha Course or Christianity Explored???

  16. Being able to cry out prosecution if anyone disagrees with you in ANYTHING. Having a good scapegoat for when you mess up. Being able to think someone is watching your 6 when in reality you're all alone. And being so hidebound to a book that nothing could change your mind.

  17. Christianity is good for telling you who to hate.

  18. The theory behind it is that Jesus apparently said "No-one comes to the Father except through me" which is interpreted as showing Christianity to be the only assurance of an eternal life after death.

Christians believe that Jesus' sacrifice (the crucifixion) redeemed the sins committed by humanity and if you repent of your past sins, you will be able to benefit from his action and to go to heaven after you die. Many - though not all - groups of Christians also believe that refusing to accept Christianity's tenets will mean that you go to h**l after you die, instead of Heaven.

Speaking personally, I think that it is the moral code, rather than the promise of salvation, that is the best part of Christianity. Whatever happens in the next life, I believe that this life is not intended simply as a period of waiting for death, but as a gift and opportunity in itself, and that we should enjoy it and try to profit from it and more, to help others profit. The organisation Christian Aid's motto is "we believe in life before death" and that pretty much sums up my feelings too.

  19. Umm it will give you a car if you hope hard enough.

  20. It gives you an easy answer to all of the unanswered questions in life.

    For example

It's God's will, God did it, God wanted me to do it.

Easy ! No more need for soul searching.

  21. A  life  of  equality  with  all  men   and  no  poverty  as  the  LORD  said   give  to  all  men  in   need. Therefore  all   would  be  rich  and  no  poor.All  would  eat  and  none  starve.Love  would  rule  the  day  as   the  LORD   said  love  even  thy  enemies. In   CHRISTIANITY   PERFECT  LOVE  SHINES  PERFECTLY.Look   I  could  go  on  forever.CHRISTIANITY   OFFERS  PERFECTION  IN  EVERYTHING  IN  LIFE.THIS  THE  LORD  TAUGHT  US  BY  EXAMPLE.JESUS   I  LOVE  YOU  AND  THANK  YOU  FOR  SHOWING  US  THE  BEST  WAY  IN  YOUR  WORD.    THANK  YOU  D'S  HOWBEIT  THE  LOVE  OF  CHRIST  GETS  A  THUMBS  DOWN

  22. If you want a positive moral code, try Buddhism not Christianity whose code of ethics is negative. It's all don't do this, don't do that, don't do the other, not DO anything but grovel and praise and worship some stupid Deity.

This is why Nietzsche who had a strong ethical sense [J. S. Mill too] despised Christianity. He wanted a strong, positive ethic, the ethics of action, direct and effective, not to be an idiot who thinks that he or she is good merely because he or she doesn't do what other people do, people deemed "sinners".

  23. It often doesn't always even offer a positive moral code, just lip-service to one.

  24. It tells you how to start getting more of God's infinitely happy and rich experience of eternity...

  25. Salvation. God does not force you to believe...he gives you a choice....but in the end will you choose the right one.

  26. I don't get christianity either. But the Flying Spaghetti Monster is the true god and knows all and says it clearly. Join now and save your noodly soul!

    Ramen.

  27. The indwelling life of Christ, otherwise known as Eternal Life.

  28. Jesus is the only way into heaven and the only way to avoid being sent to h**l.

Jesus is Truth.  Jesus is Salvation.  If you want to be in heaven when you die and not eternal h**l, then you need Jesus.

The truth is that the only way to be saved and to get into heaven and avoid being sent to eternal h**l is by believing in faith alone that Jesus, who is God, died for our sins on the cross and rose from the dead (1 Corinthians 15:1-4). Believe this and you are saved!

Please pray now: "Jesus, please forgive me of my sins. I believe that You died on the cross for my sins and You rose from the dead. Thank You for eternal life!" You will be in heaven with Him forever when you die :)

  29. I don't get it either, therefore it doesn't get me either.

  30. Salvation.

  31. It offers a sense, a false one at that, of safety and security and a feeling of belonging to scared children.
