I dont get the minimum wage in CA, its not 6.75?

i used to get paid 6.75 3 years ago and it turns out it was 8 dollars. and is the minimum wage now 6.25. I'm very confused, and google is making it worse.

There is a federal minimum wage and a state minimum wage in many states.  Since you are in California, you should earn the state minimum wage, which is $8.00.  The federal minimum wage just went up today and made the news, so this may be what confused you .
