Question:

I dont have a floppy drive but there is one listed under 'my computer'?

under 'devices with removable storage'.Not that its a problem at all but i'm curious as to why this is. Any ideas?

  1. When XP was originally written, most computers had floppies. Microsoft left the support drivers there incase your PC has the hardware or if you add it.  


  2. Because all computers allow you to remove or install the floppy drive. make sure to never remove it. Some things may not run right without it no matter how irrelavent it seems to the rest of your system.

  3. If you look in bios you will notice that you can disable the floppy drive,

    Then it should disappear from the my computer window.

    but u jus dont need to worry about that

    try uninstallling that device 4m device manager

    but might be ur os will found a new hardware after rebooting ...

    but i think that it is not any matter to worry ..

  5. Its just there so you can install it if you need it. Most new computers these days come with a lot of great extra spaces and drivers for your needs. But I think they are doing away with the old a floppy disks. There are going to start using the memory card to store files in.
