I dont have any marine salt for my dragon fish but is it ok if i use iodized salt? im not sure, please answer?

One of the biggest differences between freshwater and brackish conditions (the Dragon Goby needs brackish conditions) is the dissolved minerals, not just the salinity.  While adding uniodized salt will raise the salinity, it will not add calcium, magnesium, iodine (which IS necessary to some degree!), and other essential ions.  I would strongly suggest getting marine salt, or at least Rift Lake salt as soon as possible.  Epsom salt is magnesium sulfate, and in the concentrations you would need to create brackish conditions, would kill the fish in short time.  Lastly, there is little backing behind the notion that iodized salt is any more dangerous than uniodized salt-- the concentrations of iodine and non-caking agents in iodized salt are so low that they would have little or no affect (if it did have an affect, it would be possitive) on the fish, bacteria, or plants in the tank.

Nooo..never use iodized salt...tht will harm your fish...

don't use the iodonized salt. I think kosher salt is ok. epsom salts. sea salts. I may be wrong but don't take the chance.

nosoup4u has it right. Marine salt to create a brackish environment is no where the same as aquarium salt. It does add plenty more then just salt.

Just FYI for others. you can use standard pickling salt as an alternative to aquarium salt at a much cheaper price. The thing is again pickling salt isn't enough to make a brackish environment.
