i not really the smartest student in math class.

And i really very much appreciat eit if u showed me the answer to this following problem:

If 2 angles are supplementary and one angle is twice as large as the other, find the number of degress in measure of teh SMALLER angle.

Thankyou...its a hs problem and i dont really get it

  1. Supplementary angles add up to 180 degrees, so

(note "|angle|" is the measurement of that angle)

    |Angle 1| + |Angle 2| = 180 degrees

But, you do know that one of the angles is twice that of the other, so let's say Angle 1 is that smaller angle

    |Angle 1| + 2(|Angle 1|) = 180 degrees

You should be able to figure it out from here.

  2. supplementary means adds to 180

let x = the smaller angle

and let 2x = the larger angle(since the larger angle is twice as big)

now they both add up to 180 so

    x + 2x = 180     —   now combine like terms to get

3x = 180     — now isolate the x by dividing by 3 and then ur left with

    x=60

so the smaller angle is 60 and the bigger angle would be 120

  3. Well, supplementary angles are angles whose degrees add together to make 180. So if one is twice the measure of the other then you know the smaller angle has to be one 1/3 of 180 degrees, making the answer 60 degrees.

i think the smaller angle is 60 degrees

How i get this is that Since a supplimentary angle is 2 angles that add up to 180 degrees, and one agle is twice as large, i devided 180 by 3 and since the bigger one is double the smaller i took 2 of the 3 so the big one is 120 and the small one is 60.

i'm not sure if thats right, but thts the closest i've got =) hope i helped

  5. x + x/2 = 180

    Bigger angle = 120

    Smaller angle = 60
