  1. I taught my 4 year old this method in about 5 minutes earlier this year.  I am sure that it will work for you as well.  Find a grass area, preferably  a slight downhill that is followed by a long flat or slight uphill (this will act as your brake).  Lower your seat until both of your feet can touch the ground while you are sitting.  Start at the top of the hill and let your bike roll down while keeping your feet on the ground for balance.  As you do this several times you will be able to eventually lift your feet up and even put them on the pedals.  Don't worry about pedaling just yet.  Continue to walk your bike up the hill and coast down.  Once you master this then you can add pedaling.  When you can pedal comfortably then you will need to raise your seat up to the natural height and start the process all over again.  First, feet near the ground as you roll, then feet on the pedals and finally pedaling.  It should take you 1 day or less to finally master this skill.  Good luck.

  2. I've been there! I was a late learner. But what you need is a lot of open space. I used to try to practice in my back yard, but there wasn't enough room for me to get up and go. once I tried in the park, it took me two tries, and I was off. You just have to push yourself, get your feet fast on the pedals, and go. It's really simple, and don't be embaressed.

  3. I thing that you do not have enough practice , you need ride a bicycle - sorry ,  tricycle more often .

  4. I wonder if you might benefit from a pedaless bike?  They use them in Europe for youngsters.  It's basically a bike with no pedals and you push and balance with your feet.

Other than training wheels - that's all you've really got.  You need to practice, practice, practice and have a long stretch where you can keep riding without having to turn.

You'll get it and be amazed you couldn't before!

  5. just take off your training wheels and keep trying. When i was little my dad bought me a bmx bike because he wanted me to be pro or something lol. I just used my feet to balance and go really slow. Go in a big flat area its soooooo much easier cause you have alot of room. Also have someone hold you.

  6. Get yourself to a large opened area. Have your seat lowered so you can have both your feet on the ground. You will not be using the crank for awhile. While sitting, push yourself like a push bike. If you feel like tipping over, use your feet. Try to keep the speed up and control your steering. Once you feel comfortable pushing yourself and staying stable, place both your feet on the pedal and see how far you can travel without putting your feet down. Once your okay with that, try slowly rotating the crank. It might feel sort of awkward because you have to bend your leg so much. But once you get cranking, raise the seat to a comfortable level and ride!!! Remember to wear a helmet. (cycling gloves will help too)

  7. Get your mom to hold you while you ride then get her to let go after a while

  8. I advise you to:

    - Check your tire pressure.  It's VERY hard to keep your balance on mushy underinflated tires.  Properly inflated, tires are supposed to be hard.  While you are at it, the rest of your bike (gears, brakes, etc.) need to be in good working order too.

    - Wear protective gear.  Knee pads, elbow pads, wrist guards, helmet.

    - Find a big empty parking lot, where you can build up some speed without crashing into things.  Fast-spinning wheels generate gyroscopic stability and helps you keep your balance, like how a coin can roll on its edge until it loses all its speed and flops over.

    Good luck.
