I dont know much about camcorders?

I want one that when I plug it in to iMovie I dont have to use the blue screen (like my one with the tape now) but instead it has to clips split up where i recorded on my camera. is this a hard drive one?

  1. So... you don't want to "import" the video. Too bad. The best available video quality comes from miniDV tape based camcorders. The highly compressed video on hard drive and flash memory based camcorders comes next. Worst video quality comes from DVD based camcorders.

    So.. here is the deal. iMovie and FinalCut won't deal directly with the video files from hard drive and flash memory based camcorders. After you copy the files from the camcorder's hard drive or flash memory, you need to first open the file in StreamClip, then export to DV. Go to apple.com, click on Downloads... search using "streamclip" - download and install it. It is a free utility from Apple.

    With miniDV tape based camcorders, when you import the files to iMovie, did you know you can just drag the clip to the desktop? Every time you start and stop the camcorder, that is a clip. You can also just import that one clip - you don't have to import everything on the tape...
