  1. Buying a TV is subjective. Each technology has their own benefits and risks. They also have different picture qualities. It is best that you go to a TV shop and judge picture quality for yourself.

    Here are the real differences:

    Plasma has better black reproduction.

Plasma TVs produce more colors and tend to do so more accurately.

Plasma TVs have smoother, fast motion. They do not blur or jitter with action movies or sports like an LCD TV.

Plasma TVs still use more energy than an LCD TV.

    Plasma TVs weigh more.

    Plasma TVs produce more heat.

Plasma TVs have only a slight risk of burn-in today.

Some LCD TVs have a slight risk of burn-in as well.

Some LCD TVs have more glare and reflectivity than some Plasma TVs. Turn off the TV and look at how reflective the screen is to determine if glare and reflectivity will be a problem with that make and model.

Plasma TVs tend to be cheaper than the equivalent sized LCD TV.

LCD TVs can have dead or stuck pixels. Pixels can die with age as well.

Plasma gas is NOT used up nor can it leak.

Plasma TVs should be transported upright (not lying) down ONLY because the vibrations can crack the glass screen if the screen is lying flat and unsupported.

My personal preference is for a Plasma TV & I like the quality and reliability of the Panasonic line. If you are going to buy an LCD TV, I like the picture quality of the Samsung and Sony line.
