I dont know what classes i should for my first horse show?

i just got a new horse in october-november i dont know but i am going to an irish fox horse show (missouri) feb.29-mar.3 i dont know if i should do cross rails or i should do 2'' or if i should do baby green (i cant do lead changes that easily but we are to big for cross rails) please help

  1. Just do the 2' classes and see how it goes. You can always add classes once you get there. Don't do novice those are generally 3' fences. What level is your horse schooling at currently? The general rule of thumb is show at one level lower then you are schooling.


  2. dont know what baby green is... if you are talking about jumping and have a hard time lead changing you might not want to compete. i mean go out there have a good time, but be careful, you could hurt your horse. you gotta be able to count your horses stride when approaching a jump and see the distance, and be able to speed up, slow down, shorten the stride or lengthen it and you are on a clock. it shouldnt matter how big your horse is, he should be able to shorten up if you ask him to. work on your lead changes.

    what is baby green?

    class should be novice i would think.
