  1. Think outside the box. Make a “Could you use a helping hand” flyer. List your info, name how to contact you, your wants, need, and the things you are willing and able to do. Have your parents review it and make changes as needed. Ask your parents to help you distribute this to safe people in the community that you already know at church, school, children’s hospital, nursing home etc. They may call or can pass it on someone they know that needs help. Read a book to elderly person, a play date helper, run and play with the two 5 year olds while the Mom cooks or cleans. Bring your own bag of toys so you take the mess with you when you leave! You can take them for a walk around the front yard follow the leader, small kick ball, crayons and paper make pictures for the mom, practice reading or letters, in house story time. Offer once a week, month no job too small. You can offer first 3 to respond get 1 hour free. What do they have to lose? Your price will be a big factor especially with families; gas prices alone are killing them. If a price is not listed or too high I would not even call. Also, I am not going to pay $10.00 and hour for a sitter. Are my kids worth it, YES. But I can not afford it. It is just not going to happen. Are you willing to do these things and at a price that is reasonable.   Your teachers could probably tell you some strong points you possess that you may not have considered. Good Luck and keep asking others for ideas, if these don't work for you.

  2. I have a 13 year old. He collected soda cans and make $150.00 last week. He collected them for about 2 weeks. Ask your parents, grandparents, neighbors to save them for you. They really add up after a while!

  3. Check with your neighbors... maybe you could help clean up their yards for spring time, walk their dogs, occupy their kids while they are home (I have 4 kids, and I would probably think you were too young to babysit them right now...)  If the kids end up liking you and the parents get to know you, as you get older, you might be able to babysit.

If you need money for a lap top and your family can't buy you one, you could check out the major companies (like dell) and see if they have any scholarship money available for you.  It's worth a shot!

    Good luck

  4. Ask your neighbors if they need help around the house, cleaning, yard work, walking their dogs, washing cars...
