I dont know what to do... please help!?

this guy i like has been talking to me for a while and his best friend is also good friends with me. so his best friend tells me everything and he had already told me the guy likes me too. and i was excited but then i found out from the best friend that right now the guy just wants to hook up... he doesnt want to go out. thats not really what i wanted i wanted to do both... but i dont want to lose him! what should i do??

ask him out and if all he wants to do is hook up then he isint worth it
