  1. i think you should get a long-haired/teddy bear hamster..they are so cute and nice or you can get a dwarf hamster they are also cute and nice but easier to take care of..and the cage if you get a long-haired i say get a crittertrail classic and if you get a dwarf the crittertrail one...

also other options are crittertrail two(for teddy bear hamster)

  2. well teddy bear hamsters are good and for the cage don't get anything plastics the hamster will nibble it.

    hope that helps

  3. I would recommend getting her the supplies for a hamster and then letting her pick the hamster herself. Find out if she has a specific type of cage in mind - does she want one of the cages that come with all sorts of plastic tubes or is glittery pink? If she doesn't have anything in mind, a good cage for a hamster is a 10 gallon or larger aquarium with a mesh lid - it's cheaper than the flashy plastic cages and more spacious. If she does want a cage with tubes, try and get two and connect them, as those cages can be quite small.

Buy the cage, some bedding (paper-based, like Carefresh, or aspen - no pine or cedar), a wheel with a solid running surface, a water bottle, a food dish, a few hiding places/houses, the best quality food you can find (something without added sugars or preservatives), and any other supplies you think she'd need.

Then offer to take her to the animal shelter (check www.petfinder.com for any available hamsters in your area) or pet store to pick out the hamster herself. If she wants a Syrian hamster (also called teddy bear, fancy, golden, black bear, or a plethora of other names), she should only get one, but if she wants a dwarf hamster, she can get a pair or a trio.

  4. You shouldn't have to worry about that because if she's responsible enough to care for a hamster, then she already knows what kind of cage to get and what species of hamster she wants, and that it's always a better idea to pick out your own pet than to be surprised with one.

  5. You should get a teddy bear hamster if shes young and would like to hold it and stuff....or you could get a robovorski their the smallest fastest  fun to watch but dont let you touch much : / and bite sometimes both are good ,price for robo's for me were $20.00 and teddy bear were $8.00-$15.00

both are good and you should get a crittertrail 2 lots of space for an okay price crittertrail two $40.00

not including bedding food treats exersise ball

[help like this deserves best answer wink wink]

  6. happy b day for yer sis-----why not just get her a gift card from your local pet suppliers add some extra to it for the cage and food water bedding etc etc

  7. go to petsmart or petco and they can help set you up with everything you need ,but make sure it's ok with your parents first.

  8. teddy bear hamsters are good

  9. well im guessing shes young? she wants a hamster so just get her the one that u think she would say oooooo its so cute!! and just pick out a cage. she wont care. all she'll care about is the hamster.

  10. i THiNK YOU SHOULD GET EiTHER A TEDDY BEAR "HONEY BEAR" HAMSTER OR A DWARF HAMSTER. WHEN YOUR iN THE PET STORE GETTiNG THE HAMSTER YOU SHOULD PiCK THE BEST CAGE FOR YOU. BUT WHEN i HAD HAMSTERS PETCO HiGH RECOMMEND GETTiNG A "FiSH TANK" CAGE BECAUSE HAMSTERS LIKE TO BITE THROUGH ANYTHiNG. ESPECiALLY THE CAGES THAT ARE MADE FOR THEM.

  11. american hamster, 22"by 18 "cage

  12. no

  13. when i had a hamster she was an escape artist, you should get an aquarium. I just bought one at wall mart for like ten bucks (its so much cheaper than like petco or petsmart by far! as well as the bedding at food, just tell them you have everything already and get it from wall mart:P they have some of the same products and the waterbottles are like 2 bucks as pet stores like five)

and get a baby hamster, they tend to be alot friendlier. hope this helps:)

lol and its just a hamster, i dont think it matters if she knows what breed or not, as long as you know because you bought her one, than if she gets bored with it, your probly going to be the one who has to give it attention. maybe buy it a friend so you dont have to worry about it.

  14. well i have a fish tank, a wheel, a bed, a food dish, a water bottle, and other stuff that she plays with
