  1. A heat mat is actually ideal when it comes to leopard geckos. Since they are nocturnal, a mat will not disrupt their sleep cycle.

  2. about a 75 watt bulb

  3. never use heating mats with a lizard that small, you should use a 20 gallon tank cuzz they need that type of size, and a 70 - 75 wat heating light & lamp so thats your basic lighting and tank size

  4. My daughter volunteers at a local reptile rescue center and we adopted 2 leopard geckos.  I don't know why you don't want us to tell you about heat mats..you will need one.  As far as lighting, they are nocturnal animals, so all you need is a red night bulb at night time and they don't need anything during the day (which is where the heat mat comes in).  They will be sleeping during the day and a bulb will disturb their sleep cycle.  I accidentally left a bulb on during the day once and the poor little guy was awake all day and looking so confused!!
