I dont know whether to stay on another year or not?

im 17 and stayed on at 6th form last year and ive carried on into year 13 this year, but today was my first day back and i realised how much i dont want to be there cause i absolutely hate the lessons and coursework

the main reasons i want to stay are to see my friends, to go to the leavers ball at the end, to get out of the house, be more sociable and i do want to finish my a levels but the lessons bore me to death and i dont think i can carry on

but at the same time i think that im already half way there so i might as well carry on?

if i left i would get a job or go to college, but im planning on moving away to live at my dads when im 18 anyway and going to college there, do you think i should carry on in 6th form?

thanks xxxxxxxxx

  1. Oh, you know, this is a very difficult question. How will you get into college without your A levels? (I thought you had to have finished them -- but then, I'm originally American, so what do I know?)

The only way to get through this, if you've already lost the will, is to find some real reason for finishing A levels, like, "I've got to get my A levels in order to get into such-and-such school".

Otherwise, I'd just tank it and go live with your dad. He will probably insist that you actually get up and DO something, so in the end, you'll find yourself back in school or at a job you may not like. But if it were me, I'd go for the change in scenery and the time to re-evaluate your life choices.

  2. Carry on! You're nearly there....you'll have your a levels and it will be MUCH simpler. When it comes to the ball you'll have a real reason to celebtrate...I had to go back at the age of 21 to do A levels! It was really annoying but I had to to get onto my course at Uni.

  3. so you would just swap one learning environment for another if you go to college

I suggest you change the way you look at things and work hard so that you have something to show for it for the next year.

  4. Hey, I am in the exact same situation your in...

Started back today... only doing two A2 levels.. but thinking of staying an extra year...

To be honest the more time you spend developing your skills in the place you know best.. like us being in the school for 7/8 years.. better option...

you could always take a subject you have never done for A/S next year.. see how you get on...
