I've set my home hub up and all the lights are on i have connected it to my computer by the ethernet cable. Which it recommended to do but does that still mean it is a wireless access point or do i need to buy a wireless adapter or router to go with it. Thanks

  1. It doesn't mean its a wireless device sir, Hubs will never broadcast wireless signals ever, In case that thats what your looking for then get a Wireless Access point

I recommend Aironet Cisco Access Points ;)

  2. Your BT homehub is still a wireless router however you connect your computer to it, if you have a wireless device you will see that it shows up in the list when you scan for connections. If you want to connect wirelessly then you will need a wireless adapter, if you're on a laptop this is probably built in but they're not too expensive for desktop computers. If you're on a computer and you can connect via ethernet then you might as well do it that way as ethernet will be faster than wireless.

  3. The hub has a wireless router built in.

1 right click on the network icon in the task-bar.

2 connect to a network or show all wireless networks ect

    3 highlight BT

    4 click connect

5 enter the WEP key which is on a label on the back of the BT Hub called SSID Wireless Settings > enter it and click connect.

6 unplug the Ethernet cable from your computer and now you are wireless.

PS Please don't say you haven't got  wireless LAN installed on your computer

  4. The b.t home hub will operate on both wired and/or wireless.

I have two wired Ethernet connections to my one connected to two p.c's and also can use two laptops and a games console with wireless all at the same time if desired.
