I don’t see India winnings admits Gavaskar – Cricket News Update
Following their loss in the first Test against http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Sunil-Manohar-Gavaskar-c91863 admits that he finds it hard to see the Men In Blue claiming their maiden series victory Down Under.
The sub-continent giants travelled to take on the Aussies in a four match series, hoping to break their jinx Down Under, where they have failed to register an away series win in over 50 years.
Despite such poor record, many gave the tourists a realistic chance of toppling the Kangaroos; given their opponents own transition, following a shakeup in their cricket setup.
The hosts have been criticized for the lack of consistency over the past 12 months, and many Indian fans hoped that their team would finally make that discrepancy count when they take on the Australians in the first Test, starting from the Boxing Day.
However, that notion was put to bed after the Men In Blue registered an humiliating loss by a 122-run margin. Despite having star studded batting line-up, they again failed to make a score in excess of 300 after being bowled out for 282 and 169 respectively
at the MCG.
With still three Test matches to play, Gavaskar feels that it will be an unrealistic approach for his side to think of a series win following the defeat in the first Test.
“Yes, I think so (about http://www.senore.com/Cricket/India-c750 not winning the series). I will be happy to be proven wrong but I don't see that happening," he said."In both the innings here we failed to cross the 300-run mark, especially in the second innings here the pitch was good for
batting. "In http://www.senore.com/Cricket/England-c56013 we managed to reach 300 only once despite our batsmen having 30,000-40,000 runs behind them. The alarm bells are ringing very loudly," the legendary batsman added.
However, the Indian legend asserted his backing to http://www.senore.com/Cricket/MS-Dhoni-c2028 but admitted that the World Cup winning captain must be aggressive in his decision making, while also wanting him to interact more with other players.
"(I feel) everybody is in their own cocoon (in the Indian team) and that's where Dhoni needs to have more interaction (with the players)."
