This is really very personal, and i would appreciate it if only females respond to this post.

Over the past week, i have been experiencing increased vaginal wetness. And its not from sexual arousal, there is no pain, and no discomfort either. Its almost a very light pink colour, and i have missed my period for almost 4 days now. I do get period pains around this time of the month, but i haven't really had any this month. I do get small cramps, but its a rather odd feeling and it doesnt last very long. Its not very sore and there is no discomfort either. I feel tired, i just want to sleep, and seem to be having alot of fatigue lately too. This has only happened over the past week or so.

I had a very faint, small, light brown spot on my underwear on the day that i was supposed to start my period, but it never started. This has never happened to me before. What could be causing it? I did have the normal bloating about 2 weeks before i started as always. Around the time of ovulation. But now there is nothing happening. Any ideas on what could be causing this? And has it ever happened to you? If so, what caused it?

  1. There are alot of reasons why your period could be late.  Contraceptives, irregular cycles, stress, etc. can all play a factor.  If you are in fact pregnant, the spotting you described, sounds like what some women experience when the fertilized egg is actually implanting in the womb.  If you really don't want to make an OB/GYN appointment just yet, go to the drugstore and purchase a name brand pregnancy test.  If it comes out negative and after a few more days your period still hasn't arrived, you can take another home test or see your doctor.  Good luck!

  2. I would recommend ruling out pregnancy first. If you have had intercourse at any time since the start of your last period, you should take a home pregnancy test. If you became pregnant during your "bloating" ovulatory phase 3 weeks ago, your hormone levels should be high enough for the pregnancy test to detect it by now.

If you're not having s*x, or if the pregnancy test is negative, you should visit your gynecologist. The most common cause of a missed period is pregnancy, but these symptoms could also be a sign of something more serious. Many athletes will experience reductions in flow similar to the symptoms you're describing. Have you been exercising a lot lately?

  3. What you're talking about sounds like spotting, when the egg burrows into the uterine wall and a little blood comes out.  If you've had intercourse i would suggest an early pregnancy test.  I don't have any idea on anything else it could be.  HTH
