I dont think that child neglate has serious effects. What do you think?

Child Neglate only causes poor spelling skills & a fear of "spell check"  so I wouldn't worry about it.  

But child neglect can be huge.  Of course one persons idea of neglect might be different from somebody else's.  But I believe the line between neglect & abuse isn't so fine as some people would like to think.  

I guess if my mom has a roof over my head & has some groceries in the kitchen I'll be ok physically, But if she never talks to me or interacts with me will I grow up just as happy as d**k & Jane??  

Have you ever seen a toddler in diapers scrounging for food in the low cabinets or eating crumbs off the floor because the mother is passed out drunk on the couch? I have & trust me that kids isn't in a good place now.

So maybe if we (society) call it neglect as opposed to abuse than we can feel less guilty about leaving these kids in homes  just because they weren't getting beat up. Don't fool yourself the results of neglect are REAL & SERIOUS.  

Maybe spend some time talking to an overworked social workers, volunteer in the foster care system, or just go visit with some kids in the F-ing projects & I'm sure you'll see some examples & hear some stories that will illustrate how neglect has affected children's lives in our society.

Have you ever heard of a feral child?  I saw a documentary once that was fascinating & tragic I don't remember what it was called. I know those are extreme cases but you might look into that.  Kids need more than food, drink, shelter to thrive. DUH.

It qualifies as a form of child abuse...I'm sure you have read about that.  It can be lethal.  (psychologist)

Neglate is probably not too bad. Neglect is serious business that hinders optimal physical and mental development.
