ok so i have blue cross blue sheild through my employer. I don't really get all the insurance stuff so I asked my mom to help me out. she told me to chose the plan that I have. I have a Health account PPO. it says my HCA is 1000 MAX and my HCA ammount is 500 as well as my avail. balance....so does this mean that when i go to the docs for anything that the only amount they will cover is 500 up to 1000 of everything i will owe??

  1. The UOI can be perplexing.  The Dizzy lady, above, is correct.

You are much better off calling and asking your written questions...and writing down the answers.  After reducing those answers to writing, read what you have recorded prior to termination of the call.

Reason?  Too often people (even females) hear what they want to hear.  Those people later claim -- excuse the pun -- that something else was stated.

Please write down the answers, then confirm those answers as being what the person actually said.

Three days later you can even look back at your written questions and the PPO's answers.  You may then realize you had misremembered or forgotten a salient point.

Incidentally, having worked with people who have IQs far into genius level, this writer can attest to the veracity of the above commentary.

  2. There’s a # for the insurance company on your forms. Call them and ask your questions.  You don't want to guess when it comes to your healthcare.
