I dont understand this whole georgia and russia thing!!

i keep seeing people post questions or answer saying something about russia bombing georgia and stuff!! can someone explain to me what happened??!

georgia tried to take over land which used to be part of georgia but the people who lived there declared to be seperate and russian. georgia wanted the land back and attacked. russia got pissed and attacked back.
