I dont understand why...

Question

Bush cant just tell American drillers to drill in Alaska? Why cant he just start drilling in Alaska? Wouldn't that end our high gas problems?

Read a newspaper.  It would take years before the oil from Alaska could be brought to market.  It is not enough to have any affect on the price of gas.  All it can do is make ignorant people thing we are doing something about the problem, when in fact this would not be doing anything about the problem.
