I dont undestand amps how do they work and whats the difference between a 2channel and a 4 channel ???

what are rms. can someone explain it in an easy explanation?

im about to put a system in my car but i dont know to much about amps

  1. Basically, a 4-channel is usually used for 4 seperate speakers.  Each speaker will be connected to it's own channel.  A 2-channel will only connect to two speakers.  

    There are many different ways you can connect other speakers and subs but those are the basic connections for a 4 and 2 channel amp.  You can also bridge channels which means you combine two channels into a single channel.  This is usually done when connecting subs to get you more power.

    RMS is a power value that you will see on amps and subs/speakers.  What it is is the "continuous" power of the equipment.  For an amp it means that this value is what you would expect it to be putting out at any given time.  Why it is important is because you should closely match this value for the amp to the RMS value of the sub/speaker.  By doing this you will power the sub/speaker to it's full potential.  You will then be getting the best sound from the speaker.
