I don’t want people to feel sorry for me, says Mark Boucher – Cricket News Update
Having faced a terrible career-ending injury last month, the former South African cricketer, http://www.senore.com/Cricket/MV-Boucher-c2048, has expressed that he has been through immense pain in the last few days but is extremely happy with his brilliant career.
Since making his way to international cricket in 1997, the cricketer from Cape Province has been an integral part of the national team. With 999 international dismissals, Boucher is surely the most successful gloveman of the game’s history, and it is a pity
that he could not complete a thousand victims.
The 35-year-old cricketer had to retire from international cricket last month, after being hit by a dislodged bail during South Africa’s tour match against http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Somerset-c843. It is highly unlikely that the cricket fans will ever witness the great cricketer again
in the sporting field, even for his domestic side.
While addressing a press conference in Cape Town, Boucher revealed that he has had several operations on his eye since the blow, in http://www.senore.com/Cricket/South-Africa-c757, going through massive pain.
"I have lost the lens, iris and pupil in my left eye. There was severe damage to my retina. I have had two major operations and four blood draining operations in the past three weeks and physically, at times, I have been in a lot of pain,” the wicketkeeper
said.
It is ironic that two all time greats, Boucher and http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Adam-Gilchrist-c918, played in the same era, with both of them sharing the limelight. Otherwise, the cricketer from Cape Province would have been acknowledged a lot more in the cricketing fraternity.
Despite ending his career in a miserable manner, the legendary cricketer is satisfied with his achievements, breaking almost all the wicketkeeping records. Boucher maintains that injuries are a part and parcel of the game and has no regrets.
"I don't want people to feel sorry for me. Injuries happen and this could have happened earlier on in my career," said the former cricketer. "I am incredibly grateful for the length of career that I have had and the amazing things I have experienced and
people I have met during that time."
