I downloaded a movie via torrent, it plays sound only, no video?

Question

Is this just my computer or...?

It only plays th voices and sound or whatever...theres no video whatsoever...Besides the little effects when your doing something like listening to music

I'm using windows media player

How can I fix this problem?

Are you using Vista?If yes, download a VLC player at http:/www.videolan.org. After downloading, follow this steps in the link below to view the video. If your not using Vista, you can still try it.

you need the codec for the video.. my guess is you're downloading AVI files, and you need the DIVX codec for it to play in windows media player.

trying downloading GOM player.. and it has all necessary codecs needed to play anything..

or if you want, just go to www.divx.com and download the DIVX player with codec and you'll be all set.

This is the only codec you need for all movies.

Also try http://www.plentyoftorrents.com when searching movies. If one torrent site doesn't have the movie it makes it easier to search another torrent site.

I suggest watching the video using VLC.  It's a great player that can play nearly every video file:

If that doesn't work, which is unlikely, try installing the Combined Community Codec Pack.  Then you may even be able to watch the video in Windows Media Player:
