I downloaded a program and its a zip file.....what should I do with it now?

A zip file is a compressed file to make the file smaller. To extract it means to decompress it so that it is then usable.

You should have a program by default called winzip if you right click on the file you will have the option to extract it that means you make another copy of the contents inside which you can read, copy or execute.

I recommend getting a program called 7zip it allows you to extract RAR's aswell its quicker, more options and its not prone to crashes unlike winzip.

Go to the place that you saved it to and right click on the icon for it, there should be an option which says 'Extract'. Click on that and then once you're done, there should be a new icon that will let you open up the program.

If you don't have the extract option, you can try googling and downloading something like WinZip that will let you.

Download 7-zip...when installed right click on the zipped file > select 7-zip > extract here.
