I dream I'm falling ?

It hasn't happened lately but I've had this happen several times. I could be dreaming about something that has nothing to do with this and then all of a sudden I'll feel like I'm falling and wake up. Does this have a meaning and or why does it happen????

i have this dream when i don't have nightmares only i always hit the ground on my back and wake up with backache and redness, anyways... dreams like this are supposed to come from when we were living in the trees, ya know when you lay down and get the falling feeling bad enough to grip somat? that's a instinct held deep in the recesses of our brain from long ago to keep us alert. so is this dream.
