Gigi Buffon, the most expensive goalkeeper in the history of world football, has gone on to remark on the match against Shakhtar and also on their European prospects.
Juventus did not have the best of starts to their European endeavours during the current campaign but they have recovered well from their initial stuttering start to the group stage matches. They made a great recovery in the first match against http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Chelsea-c38786,
where they came back from two goals down to secure a draw. However, they were not able to perform to the best of their capabilities in their other matches, and they did not have it in them to perform to the best of their abilities, as they gave away the chance
to secure two victories, against Shakhtar Donetsk and Nordsjaelland.
They lacked the potency required to kill off matches and despite creating numerous opportunities stemming from good midfield play, they were not able to finish those moves off to secure their victory in the matches. While commenting on the progress of the
team, Buffon reminded everyone on the need for the team to perform to the best of their abilities and not give in to complacency.
Furthermore, he went on to comment that the comeback they have made in their recent European matches has instilled the faith he has in his team and reflected that they have once again become a force to be reckoned with. While commenting on their prospects
in the Champions League, Buffon reflected that there is no harm in dreaming, as it does not cost them anything. However, he reminded everyone that complacency sets in the team during that time, and mentioned that the team would be looking to perform to the
best of their abilities in the upcoming matches.
He was quoted to have said:
“Aside from the result, which obviously is fundamental for us, Juve are giving off the impression they have returned to being competitive on a European level. Can Juventus win the Champions League? My view is that dreaming costs nothing, but it’s also true
we have to be realistic. There are undoubtedly three or four stronger teams out there for various reasons, but as I said three months ago before our first game at Stamford Bridge, we can give anyone a game.”
Juventus will be facing Shakhtar off in Donetsk later tonight.
