Brazilian striker Lima claims that it has always been his dream to become the Primeira Liga’s top scorer.
The 28-year-old arrived at Estadio AXA in 2010 and although he wasn’t the most prolific of players during his first season, he has truly been in fine form this time around.
Last year his total tally was 14 goals in all competition but he has already managed 13 and there is still much of the campaign to be played. http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/SC-Braga-c40460’s resilience and the club find themselves 3rd in the standings, five points clear of Sporting Lisbon.
Coach http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Nuno-Gomes-c28237 from Benfica was a masterstroke and although the veteran wasn’t at his mercurial best, Lima has more than made up for the former Seleccao International’s less than prolific tally.
While http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Oscar-c28720 Cardozo is currently leading the goal-scoring charts with 13 goals, Lima is not too far behind and is currently placed third with 9 strikes to his name. As the season goes on he is sure to score many more times and he has reiterated his desire to overtake his fellow South American in the rankings.
Speaking to reporters, the forward said that he had never had the honour of being the highest scorer in any tournament to date and that’s why he was intent on securing that award this year in the Primeira Liga.
"I've never been the top scorer in any competition and I hope to be so in the Portuguese championship,” the talented front-man was quoted as saying.
With his scintillating performances, SC Braga have put up a more than decent display in Liga Sagres. Although they are currently in 3rdplace, it is not too farfetched to suggest that the side could even make it to the UEFA Champions League if they continue like this, especially as Porto are only three points ahead.
The Portistas are seemingly on the wane and if Lima keeps finding the back of the net with this kind of regularity, he and the Arsenalists will be rubbing shoulders with Europe’s elite next season.
