I drive a Dodge SRT-4. Why are Camaro & Mustang drivers so disrespectful about my car being faster?

I drive a Dodge SRT-4, a very fast compact sport car. It is faster than Mustangs, Camaros, 350Z's, RX7's, and a lot of other cars. Unfortunately there are a lot of disrespectful Camaro and Mustang drivers out there who say very rude and childish things. Why are they so unable to accept the fact that the SRT-4 is just a better, faster car than what they drive?

  1. Well, it might be because your car is actually SLOWER. You see, I have a Camaro that runs 11.40s that I drive to work occasionally. I've driven an 05 SRT-4. It is a solid 14 second car. Good luck beating new Mustang GTs or even my old 2000 TransAm Ws6. It wouldn't be a race.

  2. The Dodge SRT-4 is a turbocharged variant of the Neon[1] introduced by DaimlerChrysler's Street and Racing Technology (SRT) in-house tuner group (originally known as PVO for Performance Vehicle Operations) in 2003 and sold under the Dodge marque. SRT stands for "Street and Racing Technology", and the "4" in the SRT-4's name denotes the number of cylinders of the engine. ACR and Commemorative Edition models were later introduced as well. The SRT-4 was marketed towards the racing and muscle car crowd[citation needed], as well as designed to attract younger buyers who had previously only considered owning Japanese sport compacts. Dodge Press Release

Dodge, through its parts distribution network Mopar, also offers many performance enhancements for the SRT-4, from suspension kits to turbocharger-upgrade kits.

Power: SAE 215 hp (160 kW) (2003 model),

    230 hp (170 kW) (2004-2005 models)

The 2003 models did not have the updated injectors that come with the mopar stage 1 upgrade.

    Torque: 245 lb·ft (332 N·m) @ 2400-4400 rpm (2003 model),

    250 lb·ft (339 N·m) @ 2400-4400 rpm (2004-2005 models)

    0-60 mph (97 km/h) time: 5.3 seconds (Car & Driver)

    Rev Limiter/Redline: 6250/6000

¼ mile (400 m) time: 13.8-14.2 seconds (various magazine reviews)

¼ mile speed: 98–103 mph (158–166 km/h) (various magazine reviews)

Top speed: Manufacturer claims a top speed drag limited to 156 mph (251 km/h).

Im not trying to be funny but I have a less than stock 2006 Mustang GT n/a and your car is not faster!!!! if my car was stock I could beat Your turbo charged car.Go compete with ricers!!!!!!!

  3. They're just posers usually. I drive a '90 Cavalier Z24 and I get c**p too. They buy a Mustang or Camaro to act like they're car guys and get girls, so they feel intimidated when someone with a car like yours or mine shows up and actually knows what they're talking about.

  4. Hmmm, my friends daughter was running 13.70's in a stock '03 Z28 6 speed on street tires.

I would consider 13.90's 'fun to drive' not 'very fast'. I'm spoiled though, I have friends running from high 8's to high 9's in a '69 Chevelle and a '72 Chevelle. Of ALL my friends my car is the slowest, I've gone a best of 12.27. I have a '69 Camaro I've owned for 22 year's now.

Your talking stock though. I grew up in the musclecar era. There were virtually no little FWD cars then. So when they came along they were never cool. 30 year's afterwards alot of guys are doing them all up so the older guy's are like "um- when did that become cool cuz thats lame". So maybe it's that kind of attitude. I used to think VW Beetles were lame back then until I saw one Pop off a 12.70 back in the '80's! That's with no turbo!

A Neon by any other name is still a Neon. But the SRT-4 is a big improvement. If you enjoy it then to heck with those guy's!!

  5. Beats the h**l outta me!  If you are any kind of auto buff, and know yer history, mopar motors ALWAYS produced more HP per cube than anything on the road ( one exception, The infamous chev 327/375hp).  I currently have a Ram 3500 diesel, and i can tow any ford, gm or j*p-scrap across the yard.  If you want to talk performance, put a Viper up against a vette or a stang.  Pound for pound, dollar for dollar, nothing beats a Mopar

  6. It,s the same as nascar, they don,t want to be beat by an import!!!

  7. Because a Neon isn't cool. I'm speaking from experience. I had to buy one when I my V6 Plymouth Sundance Duster was totaled.
