  1. YES, you must crack your windows just a bit on both sides so you have a air flow and this will not let the wind push you to the sides like it would do if you have the windows closed ,be safe and Blessings to you ,thank you for having the brain to ask for help, people love you and they want you to be safe ,so do I

  2. You need to install this device on top of your can that allows the wind to "slide" off and cut the resistance. This will also save you some gas.

I forgot what it's called, but you might ask at a truck stop.

  3. what ever you do, do not open the windows on one side, as a gust of wind cound topple it over.

  4. okay what you wanna do now is throw it into 4th or 5th gear and floor it!!!! i mean honestly unless you wanna be a panzy and get one of those stupid nets for the back of your truck... it wont do ya any good... suck it up and it is part of driving a truck... maybe if you lift it high enough the air will go under the truck??? i dunno

  5. get rid of the truck and get a small car

  6. Driving in high winds in any kind of vehicle takes more concentration. You can put a "scoop" on-top of your vehicle to help cut down on the wind and it's supposed to help save on fuel or gas which ever your truck takes.

It's an issue because of the way your driving into to wind, tail winds are always the best. Head on winds slow you down and ruin your fuel mileage. Side winds is what tosses you around on the highway.  If the wind is hitting you towards the passenger door take the left lane when ever possible, your going with the wind, if it's hitting your driver door take the right lane if possible.  You are always going to fight the steering wheel in high winds no matter what you are driving, you sit higher than most and that's why it's more difficult.

  7. Try not to drive to fast... Safe driving :)

  8. air pressure and proper alignment is the best place to start, look on the tire sidewall for the correct tire pressure, don't let someone talk you into looking on the door jam

  9. Just getting in the right lane and slowing down...sorry

  10. when driving in high winds it helps to open all windows so that the cab pressure will equal to the wind force and help you control the truck better

  11. Maybe more weight in the back?  But it'll kill your mpg.

  12. The bigger the vehicle the more wind it catches. If you want better handling buy cute little aerodynamic sports car.

  13. get a sleeker car:P

  14. If you are driving against strong winds, better close the windows to avoid air coming thru the windows that will drag your vehicle down to slower speed. And, put some weight also just to avoid being carried away by the strong winds.  -- Happy Safe Driving.

  15. maybe put sand bags in the back to even out the weight and dont drive too fast

  16. I just want to add on to what Bob wrote.Allignment is possibly #1.Are the tires wearing evenly and properly inflated for load and conditions? If wear is uneven allign front end, especially toe-in , which is critical. There are also sway bars that can be installed. If it has sway bars the bushings may be worn and loose. The vehicle should NOT be a struggle to drive, but a little more effort is required in strong winds.

  17. slow down in cross winds

  18. Make sure your tires are inflated properly; maybe a pound or two extra.  If its an older truck, make sure the shocks and springs are in good shape.  Put some load in the back of the truck to help stabilze it.  If the truck is lifted, lower it back down to stock height.  If the truck has oversized tires, replace them with proper size tires / wheels.  Make sure the truck front end / steering is aligned correctly.

  19. Drive a little slower.

  20. If you are driving in strong winds, hang onto your hat!

As a teen, learning to drive in th Windy City, I quickly gained experience in this!

Wind gusts can challenge Chicago drivers considerably. Rapidly shifting gales can bump vehicles all over the road, perhaps even into one another. A strong wind can blow a car or truck off its course in a heartbeat.

The same challenges face drivers anywhere, when big winds pick up.

I have published an article online, listing 8 simple steps for driving safely on a stormy street. Click the link below (under SOURCES) to read all about it.

  21. dont drive when its windy.

  22. add some weight

  23. When the wind is blowing your truck hard, trying to make you swerve into traffic, the main thing to do is to not panic.

Grip the steering wheel firmly and lower your speed somewhat. If your truck is pushed into a swerve by the wind, be sure to not overcorrect.

Gently guide your truck back into its lane and trajectory.

Furthermore, if you hit a very windy area, make an effort to put a good distance between you and the other cars, so as to reduce the risk of collisions.

Finally, if the wind is just so strong that you feel uncomfortable driving, feel free to pull over to the side of the road and wait it out.

You don't want to do this if the winds are a precursor to a hurricane or another such weather peril. So keep your radio tuned to a live local station in order to stay apprised of such things.

If some bad weather is on the way, just stick out the winds, don't panic, and get out of there on the double.
