  1. Get a largish chunk of foam rubber and wedge it under your gas pedal.

  2. Well first of all, it's no secret that gas is over $4 a gallon. Most vehicles get optimum gas milage at 55 mph. By driving too fast you are at risk of hurting yourself or other people. You can loose you license and depend on everyone to drive you everywhere which is a pain, and not fair to the person being your taxi service. So slow down save your money, your freedom and you life... and possibly someone elses. Life is too short to drive too fast.

  3. Use the "cruise control" option if your car supports it. It will automatically maintain the current speed you set, helping to curb your desire to drive faster.

Don't drive as much. If you feel the urge to go fast, play a racing game or something at the arcade (or a home racing game on your computer or game console), find local car club that runs autocross events or take up club racing with the SCCA.

Pay close attention to the speedometer, while still carefully watching the road. Make quick, frequent cross-checks to monitor your speed.

Drive under the speed limit. Even 5MPH (8KPH) or so will not significantly decrease your travel time, and it will reduce your chances of accidentally going over the speed limit.

Leave earlier so you don't feel rushed. Don't put yourself in a situation where you feel pressured to get to work or an appointment on time. Who knows, you may even enjoy the drive.

Figure out the fine amount for speeding. As you find yourself going too fast, mentally calculate how much that ticket would cost you. Tickets can easily reach $400, and you don't want to spend that much money. So think twice before speeding.

Figure out just how much time you save by speeding. It is probably much less than you think: going 65 miles per hour in a 55 zone for 15 miles "saves" less than three minutes. Five over saves less than 90 seconds.

Listen to classical or light music instead of hard rock. The soft music will help you relax and slow down.

Purchase a slower car. A slower car will likely be cheaper to own than a fast car, and get better fuel mileage (with a smaller engine).

  4. slow down, relax ur foot

  5. When you loose you license you will slow down, you know you do and you know what to do about it. I will give a tip, crying on here is not going to help you.

  6. take your foot of the gas

  7. Get a few tickets, that slowed me down.

  8. hmm, heavy foot, loose temper, and aggressive. you need to chill out man. I've been there, done that, but i got over it before i messed up too much.

ask this to yourself: "why do you need to drive fast?"

you may drive fast in case of emergency, such as when you take someone to a hospital or something. Other that that, you don't need to drive fast, why? because it doesn't do you any good (bad gas millage, safety concerns, etc).

how much time do you save by driving fast? 5 minutes? 30 minutes? what can you do in that 5 minutes that you have saved? none. even taking showers takes at least 10 minutes, eating take at least 15 min to half an hour.

so when you drive, be aware. be conscious that you are just going from A to B, nothing more. calculate how much time you need to be there, then drive accordingly. in fact, if this is one of the cause that force you to drive fast, then go to your destination earlier.

music also have some influence on your style of driving. play some slow tracks. play those gospel tracks, or maybe jazz tracks, or if you really want to be extreme, listen to news only radio, it will help you decide which road is less congested, thus save time. traffic will wreak havoc your mood if you are not patience (but sometime, it can be a good exercise to test your patience). no more rock and metal kind of music (you might even save your hearings).

be in control, relax, be purposeful, your goal is be at your destination safely. slow but sure.

being in control doesn't happen in one day, if you don't do it now, you may never get over it, and believe me, it will pass on to your children. why? because our children mimics us, whether you like it or not.

    got it?
