Me and my dad were on a canoeing trip in minnesota. And my dad dropped my mom's camera in the water. i don't think it was on at the time. It took a couple seconds to get it out. we didn't do anything my dad just put it back in the pack. It won't work right now. Am i screwed or do i just need to replace something? If i'm screwed is there anyway to get a picture on a computer without a digital camera.

  1. let it dry for a day or two

turn it on after thiose days

    it should be fine

    if not

    replace batttery

  2. take out the memory card and open whatever compartments can be opened. set a blow dryer on cold and blast it with air for a while. i dropped my camera off a cliff into lake superior, it was in there for over a minute and its perfectly fine now.

  3. You can take out the memory card, and the camera might dry, but if it doesn't work within 6 hours or so then it is dead and gone.

  4. If the digital camera was powered off at the time it might be fine if you just open it up and let everything dry before attempting to turn it back on. However, if the camera was in use when you dropped it, it most likely will have short circuited and it will be broken. Even if it was powered off, the LCD screen might have problems.

  5. Next time as fast as you can take out the battery let it dry. If you tried at any time to turn it on when it was wet you killed it.

Sell it for parts on ebay and get another one.

  6. Your body's pretty much done. You can remove the card - it will be either a Compact Flash if it's and SLR or an SD if it's a point-and-shoot - and get a card reader. A card reader is something you connect to your computer and click the CF or SD card into to move the pictures onto your computer.

  7. Well the important thing to know is never NEVER! turn a camera on when it is wet.

See any electronics can survive water.  If a camera was dropped in water while it was turned off then it will be okay just drop it in purified water so you can wash off the minerals then leave it sitting there for a week or so and turn it on and it will be okay.  Try that

FYI- Water does not damage electronics only the minerals in the water, if you dipped a laptop in purified water while it was on then it would work just fine.

That is why emergency sprinklers in buildings don't damage electronics because of purified water

  8. i'd say let it dry out in the heat and then see if it works after a while. if it doesn't then take advantage of a waranty if you have one. if not then forget about it and just get a new camera.
