I dropped my Suzuki Ninja and the shift pedal is bent inwards, so I can not shift down or up. Does anyone know if I can just buy the part and fix it?

  1. yes you can buy the part and fix it yourself...but you might be able to straighten the old shifter. with it still on the bike, take a pair of pliers and bend the lever back to where it was. make sure it clears the engine when you shift...also make sure that your engine case does not have a crack in it from the shifter hitting it when you laid it down. also check your clutch lever and make sure its not damaged nor your turn signals or that you handle bars arent bent......if you buy a new shifter...first note the position/angle of the shifter. if you look at where the shifter is mounted..there should be one bolt holding it on...take that bolt all the way out and slid the shifter off...it might be a little tight so you might get it off by wiggling it while you pull...or gently put a sturdy s***w driver behind it and gently pry it off...don't forget that bolt or else it with never come off...that bolt sits in a grove on the shifter shaft to keep the lever from falling off. once the old one is off...take the bolt out of the new shifter and slide it on at the same position/angle that the old one was on...you might have to gently tap it on with a harmer...make sure the groves are lined up and that the hole on the shifter is the same size as the shaft on the bike. once the lever is all the way on, put the bolt back in and tighten it down...if the bolt won't go all the way in, make sure you are putting the bolt in from the correct side and/or that the groove on the shaft is lining up for the bolt to pass thru...let me know how it goes...

  2. First off theres no such thing as a Suzuki Ninja, learn what bike you ride, Kawasaki makes a Ninja.  You should be able to just bend it back, thats what i do.  If that dose not work or it breaks its easy to put on a new one.

  3. Sorry, but you must have clicked the wrong section, as this is the motorcycle RACING questions.

The best advice I can give you is you to post this question again.

You would get a better response in....

    "Cars & Transportation"> "Motorcycles"

  4. You can just bend it back to it's original position. There's no need to buy anything.

  5. Suzuki Ninja ??????

This is in the wrong section. You need to post this in the cars & Transportation > Motorcycles.

This is more a maintenance question than Racing,

This is the Motorcycle Racing section.

  6. first suzuki dosent make a ninja. yes , just bend it back to its just so that you can change gears. but if you mes with it to much you might break it & then you will be goingto the shop & get a new one. witch by the way you can fix yourself.
