I dyed my hair purple but it doesn't look like it was dyed at all.?

So I dyed Loreal's Deepest Cherry over my black hair today. It didn't even turn out to be good.

If I dyed a lighter colour over the Deepest Cherry, will I expect to see lighter colour on my hair?

L'Oreal really dries your hair.

try a different brand.

brands from hottopic are work VERY well and don't try your hair as much.

your problem is you tryed color over black hair...its not going to work...

if you cant afford salon stuff...go online and but powderd bleach...(made for hair) you mix it with other chemicals...and you can bleach  the black out... then try the purple again

yeah you should probably bleach it then dye it that cherry color you want it will turn out great but i suggest that you go to a salon and get it done otherwise it wont turn out the way your wanting it to

First of all...your hair has to be lighter than the level for the color to show up. If you put color over the Cherry, you will not see anything. You will need to pre-lighten / corrective color to see any difference.

try to dye you hair like a lighter color and than dye it the cherry color again

They make hair dye especially for dark hair, i belive its from garneir fruitise or whatever. I'd try that if you dont want to use bleach. Hair dye generally wont work on black hair, if you're dyeing it another relativly dark color.

You can combine a couple highlighting kits to bleach your hair if you don't have a beauty supply store, but first to get the dye out, try color oops or another otc hair color removal kit.

It's really difficult, if not impossible, to dye black hair a lighter color without bleaching it to some degree.

moral of the story is, if you have black hair mostly all colors will not show up in your hair.

purple doesn't uplift dark hair. you need to get your hair lightened first.

maybe your hair is too dark so the dye won't show through. is your hair darkdark brown or black? then you need to bleach it so the color will show.

my friend had the same problem.

Ask a salon how you can have dark hair lightened without chemicals, then try a different brand. Loreal doesn't work well.

well here's the thing, on black hair it is extremely diffucult to have any color show up over it and it is also notoriously hard to lighten. Your best best would have been to have it lightened first and then use the other color over it because if you lighten it now, I'm not sure the other color would look right.

you have to first bleach your hair then dye it....

go to a professional because you dont want to ruin your hair
