When I quit smoking a year and 1/2 ago, I turned to celery to eat so I wouldn't snack on junk all day. To this day I still eat like a whole stalk of it a day. I mean the whole package, not one piece. I started a good exercise program about a month and 1/2 ago and I still can't lose weight. I am wondering if I am eating too much celery? I am not overweight at all, just want to loose like 10 pounds I gained from menopause and quitting smoking. Thank you. This is my first post but I read this forum a lot.

  1. I read that you burn more calories eating celery than celery has in it!!

So when you eat celery you're losing calories!!

  2. Actually, if all you did was eat celery you would lose weight. This is because it takes more calories to each it than it provides.

  3. No, celery will not make you gain weight.

  4. Celery is a negative calorie food.  Meaning you burn more digesting it than you do from actually consuming it.  Your exercise routine may not have taken effect yet, you only started it a month and a half ago.  Hope this helped! (:

  5. i dont think so but it may have something in it that is causing you to be unable to loose weight see your doc for more advice

  6. Celery is extremely low in the calories count and therefore is not having an adverse effect on your weight.  If you want to lose weight consider going to a gym and doing a 30 minute High Itensity Interval Training (HIIT) session.  Do this 3 times a week.  Make sure that your diet contains protein, you get protein from chicken, beef, dairy produce and fish.  Or you can get whey protein shakes with low calorie counts.  This will help you preserve your muscle tone and as muscle is anabolic, muscle actually helps to raise your metabolism and keep your weight down.

Aim to lose no more than 2lbs a week.  This sounds low but in 5 weeks you'll have reached your goal and will find it much easier to keep at this weight.

    Best of luck.

  7. First, congratulations on your wise decision to quit smoking.

Celery is an outstanding choice, actually, as far as low calorie snacks. In fact, it is It is both low calorie and high fiber.

The failure of your weight to budge likely has nothing to do with the celery.
