Question:

I eat really healthily and still feel and look fat? Why?

I'm 13, 9 stone and 5ft 4 in, the BMI thing says that I'm healthy, but I still look and feel really fat even though I eat EXTREMELY healthily (I'm a vegetarian) and do regular exercise!!

Typical weekday:

Breakfast: Shreddies and orange juice

Lunch: Hummus and Quorn sandwiches on brown bread

Salad with dressing

Piece of fruit/ Kit Kat

Dinner: Vegetarian curry with brown rice

I have no idea why I'm larger than the other girls in my class, most of the dinners my family eat would be classified as 'diet food', and I do PE twice a week and walk to the bus stop and back every day, and also usually go on a three mile walk at the weekend with my family, so why do I feel so fat and unfit??

  1. Hunny  ... I'm sure u r not fat nor unhealthy ... it may just be in ur head ... I had the same problem as u no matter how slim I was I always used to see myself big even if I wasn't ... when u look in the mirror u are not actually seeing ur real self but what u think in ur head u look like ... also ... u r only 13 ur body is still changing and as u grow u will grow in confidence ... love urself dont look at the other girls ... one more thing ... most guys dont like very slims girls ... it's good to have curves in the right places ... that's how a woman is supposed to be!


  2. take on a particular sport, take it serious. there is no pro sportsman that is not physically fit, except darts men. make sure u do it to a level u are enjoying it. trust me it works. sports will help in physically and psycologically

  3. i'm sure you're fine as you are. it's only your self confidence. it's not your body, it's your mind. you've seen for yourself that you are not fat at all, if you're BMI says you're healthy. you might just need to do something to make yourself feel happier. swimming is a great form of exercise as it can be high or low impact, a great toner, and also lots of fun.

    i know it's hard, but stop comparing yourself to other people because in our own eyes there is always someone prettier, skinnier etc so stop worrying about it and just work on your self confidence. you'll see that as you start to feel better on the inside it'll reflect on the outside. confidence is very attractive!!

  4. I think you have confidence issues. You are at a great weight and you have approached a healthy lifestyle change with a positive attitude. You should maybe skip the chocolate (i know its an essential) and replace it with a low calorie snack bar (like fitness or special K) also you should remove the shreddies and replace it with a fruit smoothie or weetabix because shreddies will contain more salt and sugar than you think.

  5. you should run a mile every other day and keep eating healthy that is good and go to the gym every time you get the chance.

  6. I reckon your fat because you keep stuffing your face, why keep eating rubbish food try a few meat puddings and sprouts, lunch times a jumbo bar galaxy choclate, two bags crisps, pork scratchings and two can's cola will keep you trim.

    On your way to the bus stop buy and eat two pork pies or scotch eggs, 4 doughnuts and wash down with bottle fanta, with your condition you should never drink diet stuff, a litre of milk when you get home will keep you slim it's packed with protein and nourishment, have a bag of chips if you pass a fish shop, bread pudding will help your weight and get mummy to cook plenty of pancakes with a big dollop of jam.
