I eat when I'm bored?

Lately I've been eating just when I'm bored...Is this really bad? I'm really quite skinny and I exercise very regularly. Will this affect me much? What can I do to stop it if it's bad?

  1. As long as you're burning off the calories it isn't strictly bad but it's a habit that you don't want. As you age you won't be burning as many calories. If you're still in the habit it's a sure way to gain weight.

It is not the best habit to get into and doctors never recommend eating other than at meal times because this may be the trigger of other things such as over-eating, bulimia disorders, and anorexia nervosa. However, as you have said you are young and your body can burn calories much faster than a person who is older. I don't think it will really affect you if you live a healthy lifestyle and you exercise a lot so that is very good. Remember to not overeat and to stop when you "feel full". Vomiting is never a good experience and it can easily put other illnesses in your body. I hope that this information has helped you and best of luck to you!

  4. I like to eat all the time and I've gained 10lbs!! But if you are young, and have a fast metabolism then I wouldn't worry about it for now.

  5. Most likely you are eating so much because you do exercise so often.  Exercise increases your metabolism which makes you burn calories quicker.

    It's not bad if you are happy with the way you look and feel and if you are not eating foods high in cholesterol and saturated fats.  

    Try eating fruits and vegetables over other snacks.  Also, hummus is delicious and usually low in fat AND have protein.

  6. Will it affect you?  It depends on what you eat.  Stay away from unhealthy things like sweets and chips that are loaded with sugar, fat, and/or sodium.  

    Keep healthy snacks on hand.  Dried fruit, nuts, fresh fruits and vegetables, whole grain crackers, popcorn.  I like to keep a container of fresh veggies all prepared and ready to snack on in the fridge.  Carrot, celery and cucumber sticks, and broccoli and cauliflower chunks.  I eat those with low fat ranch or caesar dip.

  7. girl, me too... and yes it is bad. and it may very well affect you in the long run. it did me. took years to see it cause it gradually got there.. have to start filling your time with other things.. or, make sure you have little baggies of fruits ir veggies already prepared for yourself if you get bored and notice yourself heading for the kitchen.. after the baggie is gone.. thats all you get.. have to found something else to do.

    its tough but you can do it!

It's not always about getting fat.  It could be affecting your blood sugars as well and not a good habit at all.  Why not take up a sport, hobby or interest?  I would have some suggestions but I don't know how old you are or what would interest you so research or ask more questions on Yahoo for ideas.

  11. eating wen bord is a bad habit try to keep busy especially your hands so you wont want food or set a dinner time so you wont eat until then. if you do have a snack make it fruit or something low cal and you Will be fine
