Chasing a mediocre total of 211 runs in the second innings, the home side were in trouble at one stage, with 3 wickets down for merely 64 runs on the board in 18 overs. The left-handed batsman however, came to the crease with intent,
and took the attack to the South African bowlers, smashing them to all parts of the ground.

The visitors struggled to cope with the England bowlers but Morgan feels that the track was quite flat, allowing the batsmen to play their strokes at will. The 25-year-old cricketer believes that he is now a senior player and should
be bearing the burden of England’s batting.
"Tonight the pitch played consistently throughout and I could play myself in. I've been in the side for a while now and I enjoy taking the reins in the middle order," he said.
