I was a little intimidated. The class moves at a fast pace because you only have ten hours of riding. I did pass a couple of lessons. Now we are moving on to the third lesson. I dont feel comfortable moving to the next level. I would like to continue on the second lesson. If I cant keep up with the class I will be asked to leave.

Can any riders suggest anything??

  1. Keep moving forward, If your not ready or cant continue you will fail the class, in which case you will need alot more practice at a home parking lot before even going to a msf class again. However, I think you will do fine as most students do. Have a little more faith in yourself.

  2. that is not the way the classes are taught around here but hey your probably not around here.

You do need to be brave but at the same time fear is as bad as overconfidence. Talk to your instructors, hopefully they would not have passed you on to the next level if you were not ready. If they did ask if you could attend the next class and take up from the level you are not comfortable with. If the answer is still no cut your losses and find someone who will teach you personally.

Doesn't sound like a very good class to me though.

    Good luck and stay upright.

  3. I would say have a word with your instructor. You are paying for the lessons and there is no point in racing through the course at a speed you are uncomfortable with.

Going out of your comfort zone is good, but if you rush then you are putting yourself at risk. A lot of inexperienced riders have accidents trying to keep up with experienced bikers. They push themselves past their limits and end up in trouble.

Different people learn at different speeds and it is better to learn at your own speed than overextending yourself.

I think your instructor would admire your honesty as it is better to be aware of your limitations. Not only that, but if you continue on the course, you will only feel more disenfranchised and will slow the whole course down for everyone else.

  4. Your instructors can tell if your ready to move on or not. If they feel you are ready to move forward then you probably are. Your just a little scared? Intimidated?

Keep going. Push through your fear. You'll be glad you did. You can do it!!!

  5. you have to move on...

get through the class, and then hone your skills on your own time...

  6. Just ask.

You're paying them to teach you.

They can either go over the class or put you into a lower class, or even offer you a catchup course.

They have no right to kick you out of the lessons your paying for.

    Be brave =P
