I'm so depressed right now because I've failed algebra. (O_O)

I'm planning to get it in next term and practice very well in math to get a high grade. Can anyone tell me will this failure affect my future job/career?

  1. Keep working out problems and you'll manage to get a high grade in algebra dw...try to do your best in exams. If you still couldnt get it dont give up, maybe youll fid another subject that might interest you as much as maths

  2. it depends..........if you work hard it will not.....

  3. It won't affect your career if you don't let the negative emotion you are feeling right now consume you.   It also depends on why you failed.  Did you fail because you didn't do the homework?   Or did you do all the homework and you still didn't understand the subject?

First identify if you failed because you didn't dedicate the time to it or if its because you truly don't "get it" - then you can be confident about what you need to do to correct the situation.

Basic algebra is critical to understand because without the x's and y's it's basically problem solving.  This is a skill that everyone needs no matter what they do.  Some times you're not dealing with actual math numbers - but you're dealing with scenarios and situations that require logic.

I took Calculus  as a freshman- I got a "B".   Almost a year later,  I got into a bad car accident and was out of school for awhile.  I ended up taking Math 100 and actually failed it.    I felt like such an idiot!  But I knew I wasn't dumb because so I just moved on.  It's the only class I've ever failed in my life.  It lingered in my head for awhile and really felt miserable about it.  But now I have a great job and an MBA from a top University.... So point of the story - identify why you failed - work on it... and mentally keep telling yourself you can do it!  You will be evaluated on your recent work - so if you turn it around you will have a success story.  That is what employers look for - people who have faced adversity and who overcame it!

  4. One failure is not going to affect your future career.

But do think about why you failed, and what you will do differently next time.
