I fed my cat smoked herring from a can, its that okay for it?

Last time I fed it herring it started wheezing/coughing wildly, what happened?

What can I feed my cat as a treat?

  1. well if you fed it herring once and it wheezed, why would you do it again?

buy anyways, ham, turkey, chicken and tuna are all good little treats for your feline friend. But im not sure about whether its ok if it eats herring..

  2. human food = bad for animals! I've seen way to many cats and dogs with problems from human foods. Moderation is key of course. I'll slip my dog a French fry once in awhile. But like once a month if even. He loves Hills Science Treats a lot.

Buy cat treats that they sell. They're a lot of different varieties! And they're way better health wise for your cat.

  3. it may have had a bone in it or the smokedness may have upset it

as a treat try cheese coocked chicken breast or ham

    i would avoid anytjhing smocked/cured/marinaded

(my cat used to love cheesey quavers, not too many though)
