Currently I am working at a golf course. At the beginning of the season we had a new general manager start and ever since he has been there he keeps trying to change everything from the way it was. Although this is not a big problem what he is doing is changing policy's only towards the grounds maintenance members but everyone else is still allowed to use the old policy guidelines( He has done this to multiple policies) which is completely unfair. At this point in time I now longer want to go to work because it is such a hostel environment for grounds maintenance.

Does anyone know if the State of Illinois has a human resource department where I can report discrimination and other problems that I have found since I have started working there ? I was unable to find an HR department through the village that the Golf Course is in.

  1. I did an on-line search for you and found this website, Although I am not sure if this is the correct place it is a place to start and they can tell you the correct information as to where to go for your complaints. You talked about discrimination? That is a federal crime there and you should find a lawyer and discuss your complaint with them and press charges if your case warrants you to. Best of luck to you hope I have helped Little bit anyway! Gentle Hugs

  2. Try calling your local Employment Insurance office. If anything they can point you in the right direction.

  3. u would need to bring your HR issues up to your company. States dont have HR Departments. U would need to speak to the person in charge of HR, if that is the new manager u should speak to the person above him, or the owner of them company. If its so bad u could quit and work somewhere nicer, or suck it up and do what your boss tells u. my dad has been doing the latter for many years, he does it because he needs to provide for his family and he'll retire soon. gotta do what u gotta do.'

  4. Congratulations on sticking with it so far.  You clearly have good work ethic.  It sounds like you (and other employees) are being treated unfairly.  For the best results, try to get a group of 2 or 3 of you and approach your general manager.  Be respectful, direct, and honest.  Tell him why you are frustrated, and mention that it is getting so bad you have been thinking about leaving.

It's possible he doesn't even realize it's as bad for you as it is.  He will likely ask you for some suggestions (come prepared with some).  If he reacts poorly, make sure to stress your respect for him and motivation to do good work and stay with the company (even if that's not entirely true).

If he is completely rude or unsupportive, then you know exactly what you're dealing with.  Whether or not you want to stay is up to you.  But give him the chance to make things better by communicating your concerns with him.
