My insurance is paying for rental car and I went to switch cars today the guy in the rental place found two scratches and now they are charging. The car was a 300 Chrysler. I feel that they saw me too young and they just want to take advantage. Does any one have a similar experience? Or I am going to far? To be honest I dont remember those scratches do you think someone did it? Please help

  1. They should have provided you an inspection report prior to you taking the car.  See if the scratches are on the inspection or not.  If not, you are responsible.

  2. im sad to say they are right you are need to check the car and tell them if there is anything sorry dude ur fault

  3. Someone may have. Most likely they were there already. But I would think your insurance would cover it.Check with them, before paying out of pocket.

  4. If any thing happens to the car while in your possession your responsible.  Read the fine print on your contract

  5. That's the trouble with renting because even if someone else does the damage you're still liable unless you can catch them doing it.

All you can do next time is check and perhaps take some photos of the car before it leaves the yard. Note down any imperfections you can see and get them to sign off on them.

You can understand their part which is fair enough.

  6. Any how, you should have an insurance on the rental car, if you used a credit card, maybe your credit card will cover too, just call them to find out, and  let your insurance agent to know about the situation, they should help you, since they are paying for it, do not fall easily.

  7. If your insurance is paying for the rental car, then your insurance will cover any damages to it.

  8. Before you picked up the rental car you should have looked over the vehicle and noted any body damage/scratch the car has on it.  If there were any, they should have been written down on the rental agreement.  If the rental car agency didn't do that when you picked it up, you can argue that those scratches could have been there before you picked it up.  Call your insurance agency and also ask an older friend to help you.  Good luck

  9. I don't believe they're allowed to charge you for the scratches unless they can prove you scratched the car.   Ask them for proof that you're responsible for the scratches.
