  1. okay, yeah you made a mistake and its good you feel guilty because you might not do it again. I would talk to your parents and try to always have something in the house you can eat in an emergency, they might help you. Don't beat yourself up too much, every1 makes mistakes. but you really shouldn't make excuses, i'm not saying you are, but i was close to vegan when i was 13 and i didn't falter.

Don't feel too bad, do better 2morrow! =) good luckk!!

  2. There's nothing wrong with eating bread with milk and butter. Milk you can cross out, it's not meat really, and vegans do drink milk. Milk is good for you! (Calcium)

Perhaps there's egg in bread or the butter you ate, (I'm not sure) But as i'm familiar with, there isn't egg in it. But if it is, it's over, there's nothing you can do about it so just live on, and don't do it again.

There was nothing in the house. It's better to eat that rather than nothing!

  3. You have to accept the fact that you're only 13 and don't have full control over your dietary choices yet. So don't feel bad if you have to eat something non vegan, at your age you have very little choice in the matter. Just bide your time, get a job when you're old enough and buy your own groceries.

    Good luck.

  4. i'm sure that that milk and butter didn't hurt the cow too much. I know that it SOUNDS insensitive, but just wait!

    1) a lot of companies are going "green" or "ecofriendly" that means that they MAY have used organic milk and butter.

    2) the amount of milk and butter in a piece of bread is pretty miniscule.

if it makes you feel better, I won't eat anything involving an animal tomorrow to make up for it... :P

  5. If that is the worst dietary transgression you make you have nothing to worry about.

  6. Really, don't worry about it.

    You can't starve.

  7. milk and butter comes from the cow, it isn't part of the cow. the two things that burn me up are vegans, and tree huggers. I think your just looking for attention.

  8. A vegan diet is the healthiest, however, when your starving its best to go ahead and at least eat something. Don't stress, or feel guilty.

  9. Vegan is not a practial diet for someone who doesn't have control over what foods are brought into your house.  Also, I hope you know enough about nutrition to get proper amounts of complete protiens every day, otherwise, you are really hurting your body.

I have no answers for you on how to resolve yourself, but you could consider ovalactarianism instead, that is no flesh products but you would eat eggs and milk products.  Much more practical for a growing girl in a non-vegan family!

  10. eating is not a moral issue, there's no need to feel bad. it was just a neutral choice and ahs nothing to do with you as a person

  11. uh, no animals get harmed when getting milk, and bread does not come from animals.....

  12. relax, you are not going to "vegan h**l' or anything! It would be really hard to be vegan when you are still 13 and your parents are the ones buying the food.Do the best you can with what you have. I would not recommend you go hungry. and it is not like you had a big steak or something.

  13. I don't think they need to kill the milk cows to make butter and to squeeze milk out of them, so don't feel bad.

  14. okay??? you ate it so you cant do nothing about it

move on......just dont starve yourself because you feel guilty for eating bread with milk

  15. Guilt is not a good thing. Forgive yourself and do better next time.

  16. Face it, you don't have the maturity of conviction to be a vegan. When you're older you can worry about that, you shouldn't be cutting out dairy products while you're still growing anyway. Just be a vegetarian for a few more years.

EDIT evilkitty221 clearly doesn't know what a vegan is.

  17. Penance:  Say 3 Hail Marichino cherries and upchuck.

  18. I think it's amazing that you are vegan in a non-vegan home at such a young age. You have no control over what groceries are kept in the house and you had to have something to eat. While milk and bread & butter are not vegan, they are vegetarian choices. Don't beat yourself up. Just do the best you can. Have a talk with your mom and see if you can add a few things to the weekly shopping list so that you will always have some vegan choices available. In the meantime, forgive yourself and begin anew tomorrow.

  19. What do you mean u feel bad, like ur stomach or guilty?

  20. Don't feel bad. We're not perfect. You've already taken great steps to reduce your impact on animals and the environment. The odd slip here or there isn't a big deal. Please don't feel like you've let yourself, animals, or "the cause" down. Keep the big picture in mind.

You can ask your parents about getting some bread made without dairy, but honestly that can be one of the trickier things to find. Volunteer to go shopping with your mom, and spend some time checking the ingredients on all the breads for one you like, then ask for that brand in future.

  21. Don't beat yourself up about it.  It's much better to eat food you don't want to eat than not eat at all.  Also being a strict vegan at 13 might not be a good idea unless you are sure you're getting enough protein, calcium, and other important nutrients.  Ask your parents to get vegan foods that will supply you with a healthy diet.

  22. it's ok don't worry about it too much.

its hard being a veagan, you should be proud of yourself for the diet you have, and its ok because you had to resort to bread since it was all that was in the house at the time.

just make sure you don't stress too much over this, and go grocery shopping with your parents.

  23. Well whats done is done. I'm a vegetarian who wants to be a vegan, so I understand. You can't do anything to change what you ate, but you can prevent it from happening again. When you see that the fridge is starting to get low on vegan food, remind your parents that its time to make a trip to the store soon. Don't run out of food! If you do run out, have something hidden somewhere for emergencies like that.

  24. Um milk and butter isn't meat!

It does not hurt the animal at all it is natural dont worry.

  25. What's to be guilty about in eating that? I know you are a vegan, but really???? Its not like you are committing some unforgivable sin or something.  I suggest just not making an issue out of this. I also recommend just being more careful next time about what you eat.

  26. I may be helpful to create a shopping list for the next trip to the grocery store. Volunteer to go shopping next time your parents go. In fact it may be a good idea to offer some of your allowance to help pay for it, if need be. I got my first real job (outside of babysitting) when I was 14 at the local library. That gave me enough pocket money for some new clothes and food on my way home from school. The bottom line is that if you really want to commit to being vegan, you are going to have to be proactive about it. Some foods like fresh fruits/veg, pb&j, etc. are vegan already. I wish you lots of luck on this and if you have any questions, I am sure there are many people here that are willing to help.

  27. Don't worry, you can't undo it. Just ask your parents to stock up some vegan foods from now on!

Besides, are you sure the bread had milk and butter? Those are odd ingredients for bread. Cakes and muffins, yeah, but bread?
